tanglewood nature center and museum


All donations can be dropped off at the main office. We will ask you for your name and address so that we can send you a thank-you note and include your kindness in our newsletter!

For the animals:

(all food donations need to be unopened, please)

  • Fresh veggies (especially leafy greens that aren't iceberg lettuce!) 
  • Timothy hay
  • Wild bird seed, suet blocks 
  • Crickets, mealworms (fresh or dried), and earthworms
  • Guinea pig, rabbit, hedgehog, chinchilla pellet food
  • Cuttle bones

Care items:

  • Small stuffable food toys for the animals, parrot toys for the crow
  • Towels (gently used or new please) 
  • Yesterday's News litter
  • CareFRESH Natural Bedding for small animals
  • Latex gloves
  • Scrubbers for water bottles, scrub brushes, sponges, more sponges, Dawn dishsoap 
  • Paper towels
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Mop heads
  • Heat pads 
  • UVA/UVB bulbs for reptiles (60 watts to 100 watts - we ALWAYS need more of these!)
  • Long pillowcases (gently used or new for snakes)
  • Chinchilla dust 
  • Puppy soap, animal brushes, cat nail clippers
  • Dish washer that connects to sink spout

For the office:

  • White or colored paper
  • Card stock
  • Bottled water 
  • Decaf and regular coffee
  • K-cups and reusable K-cup filter
  • Toilet Paper, Kleenex, and paper towels
  • Gift cards from Staples and Sam's Club
  • White table cloths 
  • Napkins, plates, and plastic wine glasses for fundraiser

For education/summer camp:

  • Craft paper
  • Glue sticks
  • Tape and tape dispensors
  • Children's Scissors (30x) 
  • Play dough 
  • Coloring books
  • Paint and paintbrushes 
  • String, yarn, and twine
  • Rubber bands
  • Ziploc Bags (All sizes)

For facilities and trails:

  • Outdoor spray paint (red, yellow, blue, green, pink,  purple, orange, white)
  • New or gently used pole saw for clearing downed trees

Nature Center and Museum hours: OPEN Tuesday-Friday, 9am-4pm. Saturday 10am-4pm. CLOSED Sundays and Mondays. Trails are open dawn-dusk year-round.
